The club has been awarded  £75,000, the maximum amount available, from Sport England's "Inspired Facilities" fund after a very competitive bidding process.

The money will be used to extend the existing pavilion and changing rooms for the start of the 2016 season, when the new ground will come into use.

This award is tremendous news for the club and a reward for all the hard work which has gone on behind the scenes to fulfill our aim of concentrating all our activities on one site.

At a time when many clubs are struggling to raise teams, we are bucking both local and national trends in participation levels, and the award recognises it. Thanks to all those who have contributed to this.

The new pitch will be leased from Staffordshire County Council at a peppercorn rent for 50 years. The council provided and laid the ground as a planning condition for building on a former playing field in the town after a robust and lengthy argument for our case supported by the local ESCDC sports development plan.

Planning permission for the extension, designed by our President Alan Partington and costed by our Hon Sec Steve Cooper, has been granted, with work planned to start this autumn.

Kind sponsorship from TL Darby Volkswagen Ltd and Incontrol Ltd will help greatly in the task of equipping the new pitch.

However, incorporated into the costing of well over six figures, is the assumption, that members will give a willing hand to donate time, effort and skills to the project.

So, to be blunt, it is incumbent upon everybody who benefits from being a member of the club, to lend his or her hand in this exciting development.  It doesn't matter what skills or time you can offer.
All will be gratefully received, no matter how small.

To misquote JFK 's inaugural speech, "Think not what your club can do for you, think what you can do for your club."

Members who simply turn up to play and practise, without making any other contribution, please take note.  We need your full involvement.  It's your club.
