The boys turned up to the final game of the season, knowing that 3 points would seal the league, but with a record of 8 games and 8 win, there was no chance they were willing to not try in this game.
Once again the boys were unchanged and even losing the toss, still took to the field
Louba looked the add to his forever increasing contribution, and started well taking a wicket with his first ball (albeit a full toss), Nelly looked out of form, Goode picked up a couple, and Browny’s luck changed taking 3
1st skin = 20
A steady start by the opposition was soon to be halted as Monkey bowled the best 2 overs he will ever bowl! His first went for -5, taking 2 wickets. Cobley bowled a little too short and was a bit expensive, so Marshy made the decision to bowl Monkey again, and it paid off, taking 4 wickets (including a hat-trick) and going for -17 (match figures of 6 for -22). Elliott bowled the final over, and struggled to carry on his form from the last game, going for 13
2nd skin = 3, total = 23
Marshy came on for his first, and big and hard hitting scored 11 off the over, Cobley returned well, taking 1 and only going for 1. Goode aswell bowled tightly, taking 1 and going for 2, and Elliott bowled a lot better, taking 2 wickets, going for 3
3rd skin = 17, total = 40
Marshy returned and again went wicketless, Louba, took1 going for 0, Nelly took 1 but was a little expensive, and Browny went wicketless to give the opposition their best skin
4th skin = 27, total = 67
Although bowling and fielding wasn’t of as high quality as previous games, the boys stuck at it, and knew 67 was a reachable target
Monkey and Elliott strolled out, looking to secure the 1st 2 points the boys needed, and started well taking 9 off the 1st over. Monkey then went into malfunction mode and lost 2 wickets in the 2nd. Elliott also lost 2 in the final 2 overs, and even with Monkey hitting a mighty fine 7 on the last ball, the skin was still lost by 6 runs
1st skin= 14
Goode and Louba looked to steady the ship, and with only 3 to beat for the skin, the pair were confident, but with only 5 coming off the first 2 overs, tension was felt on the outside, however the pair didn’t falter and the played some lovely shots, adding 15 in their final 2 overs
2nd skin = 20, total = 34
With only 1 skin to win for the league, Marshy and Cobley entered with 17 to beat. With 14 scored quite comfortably in the first 3 overs, and 5 scored off 4 balls in the last, Cobley was sharply stumped, leaving the pair with 4 runs needed with 2 balls left. Cobley picked up a 2, and Marshy could only scamper a single to tie the skin
3rd skin = 17, total = 51
So with the 3rd skin being tied, that meant that the winner of the 4th skin, would take 4 points, and with Browny and Nelly set the highest skin of 27 or 17 for the win, the pressure was on. Things didn’t get any better as Nelly was run out 2nd ball. However the pair knuckled down, and didn’t lose another wicket, Getting the required runs for the win. But the pair were not happy with that, they wanted the skin aswell, and reached it with 2 balls to go, leaving Nelly just to defend and leave the final deliveries
4th skin = 29, total =80
A big 12-2 win secures the league for the Indoor team, who have worked and played fantastically this year, and well deserve their success.
Monkey picked up Man of the Match with his fine bowling display
Well done fellas, been a pleasure playing with you
