Now he has worked it out Captain Mick wins the toss again and puts Tutbury III into bat. Niall Dawkins (6 overs 0 for 21) and returning from injury Adam Roe (6 overs 1 for 12) opened the bowling. Tutbury had quite an old side with two senior pros putting on 60 before our senior pro, Trevor Foster (8 overs 2 for 27) enticed a snick to Keeper Ady Statham with 2nd batsman departing with 22 runs. Dan Dolby (6 overs 1 for 41) and James Parker (6 overs 2 for 19) were beginning to put a dent in the batting line up. The most important wicket saw the opener get a top edge to Aaron Harper (4 overs 1 for 25) for a comfortable catch by Dan Dolby for 62 in the 30th over. Mick Acton (4 overs 1 for 7) could smell blood and came on to bowl against the rabbits. Ably supported by Adam Roe in his 2nd spell (3.5 overs 2 for 12) wrapped up the innings with 2 overs to spare - Tutbury 166.
Another constant is our opening partnership of Niall Dawkins (15) and Dan Dolby (17) getting us off to a steady start, before Niall’s off stump was sent cart wheeling. The next over was a disaster first Andy Ward (3) held out at mid off, Dan Dolby was bowled and then in comical circumstances Dan Wildman (0) nicked the ball that went off the keepers glove to 2nd slip who deflected it to 1st slip who looked like he was going to drop it but grabbed it as it was falling. Phil Tate had been watching from the non-strikers end and was joined by Ady Statham with the score at 47 for 4 off 14 overs. Ady (46) and Phil (34) produced an excellent partnership (88) before Ady felt he had done enough and went on the charge and held out at mid off. Adam Roe (4) tried to support Phil through to the end but was run out when trying to back up. Trevor Foster (0) lost his off stump with a reasonable good Yorker and suddenly we were wobbling at 150 for 7 off 41 overs. Unfortunately Phil Tate also lost his wicket in the next over, top edging to deep gully. In came James ‘porky’ Parker (4) and calmly edged a four. Next over ball slide downs leg and Mick takes a single exposing James to four balls he fell, bowled middle stump the very next ball. Aaron (0 not out) joined Mick (6 not out) with the score on 161 and saw out the next 3 balls. Mick carefully played the 1st ball back to the bowler and slashed the 2nd through the covers for 4. One to tie Mick was waiting to take a single on the 6th ball the bowler slid the ball down the leg side for a wide the run gave Rolleston the victory.
Rolleston 22 points Tutbury 7.
